Blue Stoop strives to create an environment that is anti-racist and free of other forms of bias and discrimination, where all people can learn the craft of writing and bring their whole selves to the classroom. Financial aid is available to low-income individuals living in the greater Philadelphia area. Payment plans are available to everyone, regardless of income or location. We are looking into using Afterpay in 2025 and will update this page as soon we finalize the details.

Student stories

  • It was really nice to anchor my week around this Blue Stoop class. I tend to be private about my writing, and I was surprised by how accountable having a weekly class made me — enough to finish writing a novel in a month, which I truly don't think I would have done otherwise. I wish we could continue meeting through the editing process — it was a fun and creative way to spend my time and it really helped keep me focused.
