Wednesdays On the Stoop, a series of free programming by Zoom every Wednesday from 4 pm - 5 pm. The sessions will range from sit-togethers to read a story or poem, writing quietly together, open mics, and more. The sessions are designed to be a constant structure--every Wednesday at 4 you can count on Blue Stoop to plug you into writing energy as well as being a chill and supportive space for those looking for community, prompts, or any engagement with writing craft in this tough time. Some of them are going to be run by Blue Stoop staff, and some by community partners or past teachers.
So much for us poets relies on that final push, the final tightening to get the poem into its best form. In this generative workshop we will discuss a poem in progress, looking at its maturation over several drafts. We will discuss what shifts, what is lost, and what improves from first moment of conception to the later drafts that are closer to ready to submit for publication. Join Steven Kleinmen in this workshop where participants will discuss what you might think about as you prepare the poem for publication, then we’ll have time to revise and share our work.
Steven Kleinman’s first book Life Cycle of a Bear, is the winner of the 2019 Philip Levine Poetry Prize and will be published by Anhinga Press in January of 2021.
