Mackenzie Brady Watson will aim to demystify the book publishing process, beginning with how one builds and platform and gets an agent and ending with how one launches a debut book and builds a longterm career. Brady Watson is an agent with the Stuart Krichevsky Literary Agency. Her clients have appeared on the New York Times Bestseller List, and have been winners of the NAACP Image Award and the Black Caucus of The ALA Award and finalists for the Lambda Literary Award and ALA Carnegie Medal. As a former laboratory technician, she has a great passion for science books, as well as sociology, investigative journalism, food writing, memoir, business, and contemporary YA fiction. She particularly appreciates work that sheds light on marginalized experiences and helps contribute to the cultural conversation. In addition to being an agent, she is also a founding Board Member of the publishing non-profit, INKLUDED, which aims to diversify the publishing industry.
Brady Watson will join us this Wednesday, July 8 from 4-5 pm via Zoom. Register to receive the Zoom session link here. All proceeds benefit our June 2020 COVID & Solidarity fund drive which allows Blue Stoop to offer class scholarships to writers from all walks of life and pay our staff a living wage. This session is sliding scale from $5-$50, please select the level of donation that feels right for you.
