Wednesdays on the Stoop: Generative Poetry w/Todd Dillard

Wednesdays On the Stoop, a series of free programming by Zoom every Wednesday from 4 pm - 5 pm. The sessions are designed to be a constant structure--every Wednesday at 4 you can count on Blue Stoop to plug you into your writing energy with an informal and supportive space.

In this workshop, we will go over four poems that employ strangeness and weirdness to usurp our expectations of what the poem is trying to do and, as a result, surprise us with compelling images and new ways of expressing meaning. Following the discussion of each poem, there will be a writing prompt, with example ideas and titles to inspire workshop attendees.

Todd Dillard's work has appeared in numerous publications, including Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine, Fairy Tale Review, Electric Literature, McSweeney's Internet Tendencies, and The Offing. His debut collection of poetry "Ways We Vanish" was published by Okay Donkey Press in 2020. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife and daughter, and works as a writer and editor for a hospital.
