Jennifer De Leon is the author of Don’t Ask Me Where I’m From (Atheneum/Simon & Schuster, 2020) and the editor of Wise Latinas: Writers on Higher Education (University of Nebraska Press, 2014). An Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Framingham State University, and a faculty member in the MFA in Creative Nonfiction program at Bay Path University, she has published prose in dozens of literary journals, including Ploughshares, Iowa Review, and Michigan Quarterly Review. De Leon is a GrubStreet Creative Writing Center instructor and board member. Her essay collection, White Space: Essays on Culture, Race, & Writing, is the recipient of the Juniper Prize and published by UMass Press in March 2021. Ru Freeman is an award-winning Sri Lankan and American writer, poet, and activist whose work appears internationally in English and in translation. She is the author of the forthcoming short-story collection, Sleeping Alone (Graywolf, 2022), the novels A Disobedient Girl and On Sal Mal Lane, a New York Times Editor's Choice Book, and editor of the anthologies, Extraordinary Rendition: (American) Writers on Palestine and Indivisible: Global Leaders on Shared Security. She writes for the UK Guardian, the New York Times, and the Boston Globe and blogs for the Huffington Post on literature and politics. She teaches creative writing in the US and abroad and Directs the Artists Network at Narrative 4.
