Every November, thousands of writers attempt to produce a 50,000 word novel in a single month. This 6-week course will guide students through the process with motivation, information, and accountability structures. Perfect for those with a novel idea, a work in progress, or the desire to start from scratch, this class will include tips on building a routine, creating an outline (or not), and revision strategies. Expect lectures on craft, regular progress check-ins, short readings, and community-building discussions.
Class dates: 10/28, 11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 11/25, 12/2.
Instructor: Kale Choo Hanson is a queer writer and editor who grew up in between Baltimore and D.C. She has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware in English and a Masters of Fine Arts in Fiction from Temple University. She served as editor for TINGE Magazine and is the founder of a writing group called the South of South Street Literary Salon. In her free time she plays gigs with her cello and brews loose leaf tea. Kale currently resides in South Philadelphia with her partner and is represented by Nour Sallam at P.S. Literary.
