Ekphrastic writing is often narrowly defined as vivid description of a scene or object; classic examples typically feature visual art. This workshop will explore examples of poetry and prose that evokes taste, smell, touch, and other sensory dimensions of ordinary (or extraordinary) objects. Then we'll try our hand at writing text that propels itself from the page--whether pungent or sharp, jagged or juicy.
