Date: Saturday, July 20, 12:00-3:00 pm ET
Location: Online (Zoom)

This workshop explores using found text in our poetry: that doodle on a scrap of paper in the back of your kitchen junk drawer as a found poem, that corner of newsprint stuck to a park bench, your newest ebay find, a snippet of something you half-heard in a podcast, what Chat GPT does when you give it three words and say, "write a poem". The workshop asks how the suddenness of found impacts our personal and communicable experience in poetic form. In this 3-hour workshop we'll read and discuss poets like Terrance Hayes, Mick Jenkins, Mary Ruefle, M. NourbeSe Philip, Jenny Holzer, and Yujane Chen. We'll also work with our own found texts to each write and workshop a poem!

All registrants will be automatically entered into a raffle to win a free, individual 30-minute consultation on 3-5 poems or 5 pages of prose. You can purchase additional raffle tickets below.

Savannah Cooper-Ramsey is the author of little murder poems (Moonstone Press, 2024) and the artists’ book Not Fit For Print: forthcoming titles (Waterhouse, Ltd., 2018). Savannah has published poems in magazines and journals, and two book reviews of Dante scholarship. They received their PhD in Italian from Columbia University in 2020, along with a Certificate from the Institute for the Study of Sexuality and Gender.
